Now a creeping sickness moves through its people. Those it touches cannot stop eating hair. Their own, others’ or anything. It hollows them out from the inside. What remains is worse than a corpse. The skull of Nabuchdzar, ancient king of Hakkadi, has been stolen from his tomb. He will not stop talking about it.

Carry his chattering skull across a dying island. Survive the Dire Steppe. Press through the rot-blackened trees of Fowlhaven Forest, where the wolfman of Asena lingers. Cross the Starblight Barrens, where something fell from the heavens long ago and the land has never recovered since. Reach the Ancient Ziggurat. Uncover what the curse is truly protecting, and decide whether the truth is worth the cost.

The Drifting Crown of the Old King is a ready-to-run hexcrawl adventure for Shadowdark RPG, designed for 1st–3rd level characters. Inspired by Eurasian, Mesopotamian, and Near Eastern myths.
